Cymbidium Rotorua Rose 'Splash Petal'
Cymbidium Rotorua Rose 'Splash Petal' is a clone I've held onto because true splash or feathered markings in Cymbidiums are extremely uncommon, and even rarer when the pattern is stable. This one has kept the same clean feathering through multiple seasons. The flowers sit in that deep rose-red range, with the petal tips breaking into fine white striations and a strong, crisp lip. It's the only division I'm willing to part with.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light; morning sun is fine.
- Water: Keep evenly moist during growth; allow a slight dry-down in winter.
- Temperature: Cool-intermediate grower (10-25 °C).
- Media: Free-draining Cymbidium bark mix.
- Feeding: Fertilise regularly in spring and summer; reduce in cooler months.
Key Characteristics
- Grex: Cymbidium Rotorua Rose
- Clone: 'Splash Petal'
- Pattern: Stable splash/feathered markings at the petal edges - extremely rare trait.
- Colour: Deep rose-red petals with white feathering and a strong patterned lip.
- Flower size: Full, rounded blooms typical of Rotorua Rose lines.
- Spike habit: Upright to arching; good flower count once the bulbs mature.
- Rarity: Only plant available - not a clone you see released often.
