Cymbidium Sarah Jean 'Peach' Variegated
Cymbidium Sarah Jean 'Peach' is a line most growers know for its soft pastel flowers and reliable spike habit. This form is a little different. It's a stable variegated clone, something I've been growing on for a few years to make sure the foliage holds true. The flowers are the same as the standard Sarah Jean 'Peach'-creamy petals flushed with soft pink-but the foliage is what sets this one apart. This is the first time I've released divisions of it.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light; variegated foliage benefits from good light but avoid harsh afternoon sun.
- Water: Keep evenly moist in active growth; slightly drier in winter.
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate grower.
- Media: Free-draining Cymbidium bark mix.
- Feeding: Regular fertiliser in spring and summer; reduce as temperatures drop.
Key Characteristics
- Parentage: Cymbidium Sarah Jean line (known for dependable spikes and pastel tones).
- Flower: Same as the non-variegated 'Peach': soft apricot-cream petals with a pink lip.
- Spike habit: Upright to arching; usually multiple spikes once established.
- Foliage: Stable variegation held through multiple seasons.
- Season: Typically late winter into early spring under Victorian conditions.
- Plant size: Strong divisions grown on before release.
- Notes: First public release of this variegated clone.
