Epiphyllum 'Razzel Dazzel'

Epiphyllum 'Razzel Dazzel' is a hybrid orchid cactus admired for its bold and layered blooms. Like other epiphyllums, it produces flattened stems that arch or trail, descended from forest species in Central and South America. Its flowers are large and multi-petalled, with a base of fiery red outer petals that blend into vivid magenta and hot pink inner layers, highlighted by a cluster of pale stamens at the centre. These striking flowers typically appear in the warmer months.

• Stems: Flattened, segmented stems that resemble leaves. The stems are typically a bright green colour and have a waxy texture.
• Flowers: Produces large, showy flowers in a vibrant scarlet colour. The flowers have a beautiful, open shape resembling a starburst and a delicate fragrance.
• Growth Habit: This Epiphyllum has a pendant, epiphytic growth habit. It naturally grows on trees and other surfaces, using its aerial roots to cling to the bark. It can also be grown in hanging baskets or on shelves where its stems can cascade gracefully.

Care Tips

• Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the stems.
• Water: Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. During the flowering period, keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy.
• Humidity: This Epiphyllum appreciates moderate to high humidity. You can increase humidity by using a humidifier, placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water, or misting the stems regularly.
• Temperature: Maintain warm temperatures between 18-24°C (65-75°F). Avoid exposing this cactus to cold draughts or frost.
