Sulcorebutia candiae, is a miniature cactus species native to the high-altitude regions of Bolivia. It typically forms small, flattened, spherical stems with a sandy beige to light brown epidermis, giving rise to its association with the name arenacea. The stems are covered with short, fine, closely spaced spines that lie flat against the surface. In late spring to early summer, the plant produces bright orange to reddish-orange funnel-shaped flowers, which can be almost as large as the body, often appearing in a ring near the base.
