Echeveria 'Cubic Frost' - Variegated Crested Form

Echeveria ‘Cubic Frost’ – Variegated Crested Form combines three unusual traits: the twisting leaf shape of the original ‘Cubic Frost’, the cream and yellow variegation, and the flattened, fan-shaped growth produced by cresting. Instead of a single rosette, the plant grows as a sculptural ridge of overlapping leaves along a crested stem, creating a unique, contorted appearance that changes as it matures. The leaves have a soft lavender to pinkish base with irregular variegated streaks, and the tips curve slightly, emphasising the twisting form. Flowering is rare in this form but, when it occurs, it produces orange to coral blooms typical of the non-crested type.

Care Tips:

  • Light – Provide bright, indirect light to full sun to maintain strong colouration and compact growth without scorching the variegated sections.
  • Water – Water thoroughly and allow the soil to dry completely between watering; reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.
  • Humidity – Performs well in low humidity conditions with good airflow.
  • Media – Use a coarse, free-draining cactus and succulent mix to prevent excess moisture around the crest.
  • Temperature – Grows best between 15–27 °C; protect from frost.
  • Fertiliser – Apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser during active growth to support healthy variegated foliage.
  • Repotting – Repot every 2–3 years, handling the crested stem carefully as it can be more fragile than standard rosettes.
