Sarracenia 'Paradisia' Red Form

Sarracenia 'Paradisia' Red Form

Sarracenia ‘Paradisia’ Red Form is a striking carnivorous pitcher plant selected for its deep red to burgundy pitchers and strong upright growth. Under good light, the colour intensifies across the entire pitcher, making this one of the more dramatic red forms available.

Like all North American Sarracenia, this cultivar traps insects using tall tubular pitchers filled with digestive enzymes. Colour and pitcher size will vary throughout the growing season, with the strongest displays typically seen from spring through summer.

Key Characteristics

  • Pitcher colour: Deep red to burgundy, intensifying in strong light
  • Pitcher height: Medium to tall, depending on growing conditions
  • Growth habit: Upright clumping plant
  • Seasonal growth: Active spring–summer, winter dormancy required
  • Difficulty: Easy with correct conditions

Growing Conditions

  • Light: Full sun to very bright light for best colour
  • Water: Rainwater, distilled, or reverse-osmosis water only
  • Soil: Carnivorous plant mix (peat and sand / perlite)
  • Humidity: Average to high
  • Climate: Temperate – requires a winter dormancy period

Winter dormancy is essential for long-term health. During cooler months, growth slows or stops, pitchers may die back, and the plant rests before reshooting in spring.

What You’ll Receive

You will receive a healthy, established plant similar to those shown. As with all Sarracenia, size, colour intensity, and pitcher shape will vary depending on season and growing conditions.
